Initial data
The nature of the ball lightning is still unsolved. This is a very rare phenomenon, it has not yet been possible to reproduce it in the laboratory. The dimensions of ball lightning can be from 1 cm to 27 meters. You can meet various assumptions about the nature of ball lightning, up to UFOs.
According to one hypothesis, ball lightning is powered by radio emission that occurs during lightning discharges. According to another version, it is a ball of plasma. However, scientists say that such an education cannot exist for a long time. Other experts claim that ball lightning is nothing more than the electroluminescence of air created by the excitation of nitrogen atoms. However, so far none of the hypotheses has found serious confirmation.
Another case of the appearance of ball lightning was told to us by the Chelyabinsk woman Valentina Syrnikova:
- It was, it seems, about 20 years ago. After a bad weather in a large room where there is a sideboard, suddenly there was a powerful explosion, as if someone had fired a gun at the house. The glass in the sideboard broke, and the dishes fell down. We couldn't understand what had happened. A hole formed behind the sideboard, almost through to the street. The husband went out to see from the outside what had happened. Our apartment is a corner apartment on the 5th floor. And there's just that place. where we have a room like a shell crater. It is clear that no one fired a gun at the house. It's a ball lightning hit the house!
We then had to cover up this hole, and now we have a brick house built end-to-end, so now there is no trace of this ball lightning left.
Hypotheses
Ball lightning
A rare natural phenomenon, a unified physical theory of the origin and course of which has not been presented to date.
There are about 200 theories explaining the phenomenon, but none of them has received absolute recognition in the academic environment. Since this phenomenon was introduced into the scientific sphere by the English physician and researcher of electrical engineering William Snow Harris in 1843, and a scientist of the French Academy Francois Arago in 1855, many hypotheses were put forward. Here are selectively some of them:
