Initial data
From the letter of Zybina Anna Petrovna to the Commission on the:
You asked me in the newspaper to answer about the ball lightning bolt.
So. I am answering from Tallinn, Soviet Estonia. Pensioner, 82 years old, what I saw I will describe to you. Of course it was scary, but I was not confused. I leave the house, my house was then in Mustve on the shore of a wonderful lake, and there was a big house on the street, and there was a corner house across the street, and now I hear such a strong howl or noise. I went outside. As I started to approach the corner, I was blinded by a bright light. I was immediately scared and took 2-3 steps down below the corner, and they were flying along a small garden path, where they only rode horses to haymaking and vegetable gardens. where they came from was interesting. And so we flew to the house and turned left. At that moment, I was thrown by air into the fence, my head and arm were beaten, but I was not confused and I look 2 fireballs are red and big like a children's ball smaller than a football. They rolled half the street made too much noise and swept everything under them very quickly. There was a smooth road, it was 1935-1936 in the month of July, I do not remember the number. And after 3 houses there was a large space from the house to the lake. That's where they went. Here a lot of people gathered, searched with shovels, rakes, pitchforks and found nothing. and most importantly, they heard the noise, but they didn't see it, they just said everything. Thank God there were no children on the street and on the shore. Everything went without any hardships. Everyone was happy, and then I got sick. Everyone came to me to ask what they were like and I told them. That's how my story ends. This I will never forget to the grave, such beautiful balls.
Hypotheses
Ball lightning
A rare natural phenomenon, a unified physical theory of the origin and course of which has not been presented to date.
There are about 200 theories explaining the phenomenon, but none of them has received absolute recognition in the academic environment. Since this phenomenon was introduced into the scientific sphere by the English physician and researcher of electrical engineering William Snow Harris in 1843, and a scientist of the French Academy Francois Arago in 1855, many hypotheses were put forward. Here are selectively some of them:
