The remains found in Taiwan proved the truth of the myths about the little natives

Archaeologists from Australia, Vietnam and Japan were able to confirm one of the legends of Taiwan, which says that the island was inhabited by short dark-skinned people.

Representatives of this race lived in the mountains, but no one knew their language. Soon the “little inhabitants” disappeared altogether.

For a long time, scientists could not find any evidence of this legend. They assumed that the aborigines of Taiwan came from China about 5,000 years ago.

This year, archaeologists found an unusual female burial with her knees tightly pressed to her head in the Xiaoma cave complex. According to experts, no one was buried like that in this region.

Scientists conducted a radiocarbon analysis, which helped to understand that the deceased woman is approximately 6,000 years old. The femur bones were 35 cm, and the skull was smaller than usual. According to anthropologists, the woman's height did not exceed 140 cm, that is, she was a representative of the legendary undersized people.

DNA analysis of the skull showed that there is a genetic similarity with African samples of approximately the same time period. And the size of the skull reminded pygmies who once lived on the territory of modern South Africa.

Scientists believe that the remains of the woman belong to the Negro – the indigenous population of Asia, who came from Africa.
