An object similar to a flying saucer appeared on a lake in Norway, but everything is not as it seems.
Photos of a large silver oval-shaped object floating on the surface of the Norwegian Hardanger Fjord in Hagardsneset aroused great interest on social media earlier this month.
Its resemblance to UFOs — in particular, the chrome-plated spaceship from the 1980s movie "Flight of the Navigator" — has prompted speculation that it may be evidence of the presence of extraterrestrial visitors.
However, it turns out that this mysterious object is actually a unique art exhibition made in the form of silver fish scales.
Known as the "Eye of the Salmon", it weighs 1,256 tons and was designed by the Danish studio Kvorning Design with the financial support of Sondra Eide, CEO of the salmon farming company Eide Fjordbruk.
The facility is completely floating and is said to include four internal floors with a cinema and several exhibition floors, although what is on display inside remains a mystery.
"The salmon Eye will become an international design legend for Eide Fjordbruk and revolutionize sustainable aquaculture in the future," said Arne Kvorning, CEO of Kvorning Design. "I am confident that the floating Aquaculture information Center and the art installation will set new standards for sustainable aquaculture in all aspects. Design, interaction, research, technology and immersive experience."
