The Guinness book of records has recorded the longest rainbow reported Taiwan University.
Record arch noticed on 30 November last year in the skies over Chinese culture University near Taipei. She remained in the sky 8 hours and 58 minutes, according to the observations of Professor Chou kun-Hsuan.
"It was amazing.. like a gift from heaven. It is so rare!", he said.
The Guinness book of records officially announced the rainbow the longest in the entire history of observations.
Rainbow of Taipei easily beat the previous record — a rainbow that shone over 6 hours over Wetherby in Yorkshire (UK) 14 March 1994.
Rainbows are usually saved on the sky less than an hour. Chow said that he knew that he sees something special after 4 hours of observations and invited students to photograph a rainbow.
"When we broke the previous record after 6 hours, I could hardly sit still at lunch — he said. — I was so excited. I wanted to make sure we caught the rainbow. But then she did something even more incredible — broke the previous record of 3 hours!"
The main campus is located in the mountain range, Yangmingshan. Longitude of the rainbow is associated with the local winter climate, which includes alcoolisme northeast monsoon, sunshine and relatively low wind speed.
