One day Eugene Hendrick decided to deceive his city by making it think that a Bigfoot had appeared in the neighborhood. This prank has been going on for decades. Hendrik's elaborate prank began one day in the 1970s in the town of Brantley (Alabama, USA).
"One day my hair got disheveled, and I decided to come up with something related to bigfoot," he said.
Hendrik, who turned out to be a real master of deception, came up with an insidious plan. He made several large feet, screwed shoes to them and walked along the river, leaving footprints. To be truthful, he even left claw marks on the trees, as if they were made by a Snowman wandering through the mountains.
The trick worked better than he expected, and so well that he even had to call the police to search the area with specially trained dogs. The residents of Brantley were excited and alarmed, confident that Bigfoot had really come to their small town.
Finally, Hendrik decided that he had done enough and decided to stop fooling the residents of the town. However, he did not tell about his joke until 2017.
"I removed the cut-out feet and shoes and kept it a secret until 2017," he said.
When he finally confessed to what happened about 50 years ago, and how he pulled off this prank, those who still remembered those events were shocked, to put it mildly.
One man, Jimmy McGinty, was just a kid when he saw footprints by the river.
"I knew then that I wasn't crazy. But he got me," he said.
